Whenever humanity, nature, and the universe come together, they evoke a deep sense of wonder, calm, and reflection. A sky filled with stars has the power to slow time itself, bringing peace and quiet joy. We experienced exactly this during this year’s Geminid meteor shower, surrounded by the pristine winter landscape of the Belianske Tatry Mountains.
Near the village of Ždiar stands a mountain chalet whose foundations date back to 1941 — a place with a unique atmosphere, offering some of the most beautiful views of the mountain peaks and the night sky. Two nights filled with falling stars and silent wishes felt truly magical. We spent them in peace and humility, witnessing what felt like the true magic of the Christmas season, just a few days before Christmas Eve.

The image was created as a panoramic photograph using an astro-modified Sony A7 III with a Sigma 14mm f/1.4 lens, shortly after moonrise. The Moon gently illuminated the peaks of the Belianske Tatry, slightly brightening the night sky and giving it a soft blue tone. Thanks to the crystal-clear mountain air, the Milky Way and numerous meteors from the Geminid shower remained clearly visible. The meteors were captured over two nights using a Sony A7 IV and a TTartisan 11mm f/2.8 lens.
